LEED CERTIFICATION FOR GREEN BUILDINGS
GRUPO ECO RED LEADS THE WAY ON
LEED CERTIFICATION FOR GREEN BUILDING

The Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), the largest private university system in Mexico with campuses all throughout the country, demonstrates its entrepreneurial culture by building their first office and academic buildings in Chihuahua and Queretaro campus to achieve LEED certification (Leaderhip in Energy and Environmental Design).  This certification grants a global recognition for projects that demonstrate environmental excellence in: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy, atmosphere, materials, and indoor environmental quality. Grupo Eco Red, through its affiliate ONCA, is in charge of supervising the rigorous certification process and providing technical assistance to optimize the buildings’  construction and operation to achieve the distinguished certification granted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for both buildings.
These buildings will establish the new standard in sustainable construction for the ITESM university system which all the future buildings will have to comply with.

With the assistance provided by ONCA and Grupo Eco Red, these buildings have been designed and constructed with high sustainable standards and operate with a reduced water and energy consumption, and include the generation of renewable energy through Photovoltaic panels and wind turbines to reduce their environmental impact and achieve greater efficiency. These buildings will achieve LEED Gold and Silver certifications through the services provided by Grupo Eco Red and ONCA which include:

  • Assessment on Green Building design
  • Commissioning service required by the USGBC
  • Assessment and optimization of the design of the electric, plumbing and fire-contingency schedules
  • Environmental optimization of the structural and architectural plans
  • Security and hygiene implementation on-site
  • Assessment on the design and installation of renewable energy systems
  • Environmental supervision of the construction process
  • Management of the certification process
